Watch your step !!! That is what I told an elderly couple trying to navigate this sidewalk. They replied "tell me about it". Savannah is full of opportunities just like this for litigation. A Norcross woman was awarded $1.14 million for breaking her ankle trying to walk across a street in Atlanta. Broughton Street - Notice all of the bubble gum on the sidewalks and the neglected planters. Real pretty Savannah !!!! Good going !!! I can assure you that each of the groups named above know how to slap themselves on the back real good but using their powers to maintain the parks and sidewalks not so much.
Yes, this is a city building on Broughton Street. The building has a leak as you can tell and surely the building has water damage. I'm guessing a number of city employees are recovering at home while on paid sick leave because of mold problems resulting from water damage like this. World Famous Victory Drive - This is a long neglected tribute to locals who fought and died in WW1. It is shameful that this is what people see when they come to Savannah. Please remember to thank the Savannah City Council, the Chamber of Commerce, Visit Savannah, the Downtown Business Association, Historic Savannah Foundation, the Downtown Neighborhood Association and all of the other "power" groups around town - Savannah is full of them.
Ellis Square - Savannah's newest eyesore. Despite this project costing nearly $20 million more than promised by our city "leaders" (the contractors had to sue the city to collect full payment, nearly $55 million) we are still stuck with an eyesore. Please remember to thank the Savannah City Council, the Chamber of Commerce, Visit Savannah, the Downtown Business Association, the Downtown Neighborhood Association, Historic Savannah Foundation and all of the other "power" groups around town for this costly eyesore. Good going you guys !!! This is the funkiest, out of character, out of place square Savannah has ever created from scratch. Notice all of the concrete, weeds and awful ground cover. The "square" offers strange structures and shoebox sized restrooms. Not bad for $55 million. You guys are just GREAT !!!
There are plenty of other eyesores all around Savannah. It is terrible to be a resident and tax payer and live with mess like this year after year but imagine the disappointment of visitors who arrive to find Savannah is nothing like what they have been sold. The purpose of this page is to bring into focus the problems we live with here in Savannah - eyesores. Savannah collects tens of millions of dollars year after year in taxes and fees yet many of the most attractive locations in town are neglected and ignored. Please ask your elected why Savannah looks like the devil. Please ask the "power" groups around town why Savannah looks like the devil. As candidate for mayor, I promise to fix all of the problems shown in the photos above.
